Personal Travel Management and COVID-19

The support is amazing! Over the last couple of weeks, it has been amazing to see how many people have come out of the woodwork to check in on their travel agent friends and those in the travel industry. On the 12th of March 2020 one of our travel agents was sent this YODA picture. On March 12th we truly needed checking in on. Thankfully, we were so obliviously busy helping our clients get home that the devastation of what was happening to our careers, our livelihood was not setting in. It started with Princess Cruise Lines stopping all ships from sailing and within 3 days it seemed like all ...

My Contiki Chapter - New Zealand!

Incredible experiences, friendships, and many stories – these are my biggest souvenirs from my Contiki trip when I was a 19 years old. My tour was appropriately named the ‘Grand Adventurer’ and this is my Contiki Chapter. As a young adult, many of us have dreams of travelling the world! Paris, Barcelona, Delhi, Singapore, Sydney, Bangkok, Auckland. I started my travelling adventures in New Zealand in 2005. My best friend and I embarked on a 12-day tour across both the North and South Islands. It is a tour I will not forget and frequently to this day recall my stories to anyone who will liste...

What being special needs certified means to me!

Since entering the travel business, I have wanted to be a Special Needs Travel Agent. For me, my purpose is to ensure everyone who wants to travel, has the opportunity. Having received my Special Needs Travel Certification last year through IATA was significant for me as it meant I had furthered my knowledge and gave me new ideas for ensuring I provide a quality service to my special needs vacationers. I frequently travel with my family and family friends. We do not have special needs to consider. The special needs training opened my eyes to the fact that this is not just individuals who are...

Romance in an Overwater Bungalow

Dreaming of that perfect romantic getaway for you and a special someone – Overwater Bungalow! The overwater bungalow is synonymous with romance, couple getaways, perfect food (gourmet room service food) and crystal clear waters. When dreaming about this getaway, the first place to consider is always French Polynesia aka Tahiti . And why wouldn’t it be, it meets all the criteria, located in the pacific, fresh fruits, privacy, and clear waters. Why is French Polynesia the poster-child for overwater Bungalows? Because the first one was built there in 1967. According to Conde Nast Traveller, th...

5 tips for surviving Disneyland with Toddlers

I might just be the biggest Disney fan you will ever meet! (Ok, that might be a bit of a stretch but I do like to consider myself a big Disney fan.) Growing up as a child, my parents used to take us to Disneyland in California, every couple of years because we had family down that way. I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve been to the Happiest Place on Earth as a child and now as a parent myself. In all my time there, I have picked up on a few ways to maximize your family fun at Disneyland when you're travelling with young kids. Today, I’m going to share five tips that help me minimize toddl...

Everest Base Camp - Sustainable Tourism

While many of my colleagues were at our annual Ensemble Travel Conference focusing on “Travelling with a Purpose”, I was in Nepal hiking to Everest Base Camp. It was a trip that has been on my bucket list for more than 20 years and I was living what the conference was promoting. What a great adventure! I was part of a group of six people who trekked in the Himalaya’s from Lukla to Everest Base Camp and back. I could sit back and let the guide take the lead. It was awesome that Exodus tours and our guide in Nepal gave us information and ways to keep the region beautiful. As part of the trip n...

Donation to CAUSE WE CARE

Sharing jackets in our community! Our amazing team is always finding ways to support our community and each other. After our annual Ensemble conference in September where sustainability in travel was the theme, we started brainstorming ways in which we could give back to our communities. A goal was set! Donate 50 coats to the Vancouver organisation CAUSE WE CARE in the next 2.5 weeks. CAUSE WE CARE is a foundation based in Vancouver that empowers single mothers and their children living in poverty in our own community. They are committed to bridging the game between those with needs and those...

Connecting Parents with Teens

As a mom of 4 boys, I can’t tell you how much I value the one-on-one time I share with my kids. Sadly, those moments are often limited to driving them to soccer or reading a bedtime story. So, when I chose the travel industry as a career path, I fell in love with the idea of taking a one-on-one adventure with each of my children before they reached adulthood. When my good friend contacted me saying she wanted to take her 15-year-old son to Thailand and Vietnam, I jumped at the opportunity. My friend was doing exactly what I wanted to do with my boys! Find out the best place to travel with you...
