Everest Base Camp - Sustainable Tourism

While many of my colleagues were at our annual Ensemble Travel Conference focusing on “Travelling with a Purpose”, I was in Nepal hiking to Everest Base Camp. It was a trip that has been on my bucket list for more than 20 years and I was living what the conference was promoting. What a great adventure! I was part of a group of six people who trekked in the Himalaya’s from Lukla to Everest Base Camp and back. I could sit back and let the guide take the lead. It was awesome that Exodus tours and our guide in Nepal gave us information and ways to keep the region beautiful. As part of the trip n...

Connecting Parents with Teens

As a mom of 4 boys, I can’t tell you how much I value the one-on-one time I share with my kids. Sadly, those moments are often limited to driving them to soccer or reading a bedtime story. So, when I chose the travel industry as a career path, I fell in love with the idea of taking a one-on-one adventure with each of my children before they reached adulthood. When my good friend contacted me saying she wanted to take her 15-year-old son to Thailand and Vietnam, I jumped at the opportunity. My friend was doing exactly what I wanted to do with my boys! Find out the best place to travel with you...

There is a little competition about the origins, but it is so delicious... If you didn’t know, there is a bit of a rivalry/competition between Australia and New Zealand…not sure why I mean they are two different countries!! One has Kangaroos and one has Kiwi Birds – so totally different. They do a share the one very cool trait though. Even if the locals have just met you, you are likely to be invited for dinner if you had have nothing else going on. Anyways – I digress. Importance of Taking Vacation

When was the last time you took time off work for a vacation? Lately I’ve seen many articles with statistics about how many of us don’t take our assigned vacations and the importance of taking breaks for our health. This suggests, that we need to stop working just a little bit, once and a while! I think we can all attest that we love vacations. Whether we vacation in our backyards, like a staycation, or in an exotic location trying new foods and meeting new people. We may love our job, but we appreciate being away from it, but there is still a tiny part of us that worries about the mess we ar...

Top Christmas Booking Tips

Its July and that means Christmas - right! For those of us from the southern hemisphere, Christmas in July is the time we can celebrate like in the movies! You know wrapped up in puffy jackets, with snow falling and all those Christmas lights! Now that I live in the northern Hemisphere, I guess I should crack out the BBQ at the lake, put on a Santa hat and remind myself how the first 23 years of Christmas' occurred… No matter the hemisphere, it is a good reminder to start thinking about our plans for that crazy season. I know I am crazy to think about it now, but I am thinking of you! What a...
